Richard Dowling

I have been a Kings Hill resident for 11 Years. I work and study within the environmental sector, working to restore and enhance the rivers of the South East for the good of wildlife and people. In my spare time, I am a budding naturalist with particular passion for Bumblebees and enjoy many outdoor pursuits and conservation volunteering.
I have got to know many local residents over the years in various ways, including my Kings Hill Wildlife and Nature Group which I am proud to have seen become a welcoming space for residents to celebrate our local area and its wildlife. I am the treasurer of Kings Hill Friends of the Earth which is a charity that aim to protect green spaces and promote more sustainable living. I am a Tree Warden, working alongside the Parish Council to protect the town’s trees and have also represented residents by speaking before the Planning Inspectorate to fight inappropriate development. I hope to continue to build upon my efforts for our community by standing as Local Councillor.
Why am I standing?
With my environmental background, I am fearful for my own future but more so about the future of todays children and all life on earth. This is why I am standing for the Greens, the only party that prioritise the issues that threaten our way of life. With climate change and alarming loss of natural spaces, we desperately need a diverse range of experience, priorities, and points of view within our local councils and wider Government if we are to turn things around. By standing as a representative of Kings Hill residents, bringing my passions and experience to the table, I can work to serve our local community with our priorities today, whilst also continuing to fight for a brighter future.
