Antony Burdon candidate for Higham ward

Higham is my home, it is where my wife works, and our daughter went to school in Tonbridge. My work involves encouraging pensions and high street banks to invest ethically and sustainably. Prior to that I was in the civil service for 18 years, with Oxfam for 10 years and a civil engineer before that. I also served as a school governor in Tonbridge, supporting efforts to improve the performance of the school and raise education outcomes for its pupils. I believe we need to improve the performance of our council, with better services for all residents, and helping our businesses grow and create more jobs.

We need solutions for traffic congestion, which include more frequent and cheaper buses. We need more affordable housing that are properly planned so that existing services are not put under further strain. We can make sure our council supports greener and fairer communities, and a big part of that will be to make sure the Conservative council local plan for housebuilding do not wipe out our parks, playgrounds, our productive agricultural fields and our green belt.

I believe only the Green Party can win seats in Tonbridge, and ensure that our council serves Tonbridge and its people well.
